Donald "Don" Eugene Shake
MT. PULASKI - Donald "Don" Eugene Shake of Mt. Pulaski passed away on August 7, 2013, at the age of 78. Services will be held at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 5 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.
Don was born on January 19, 1935, to Woodrow and Reba Jones Shake in Taylorville, Ill. In 1959 he married Maris Kline of Stonington, Ill. Don served in the US Army. For two years he was stationed in Germany as a tank mechanic. He retired from the U.S.P.S. after 25 years of service. Don had a beautiful rose garden that was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed creating unique bird and squirrel feeders for his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Maris of Mt. Pulaski, Ill., one sister, Joyce Shake of Morrisonville, Ill., two daughters, Kathy Burkey of Las Vegas, Nev., and Laurie Chuba of Herndon, Va., and four grandchildren. To his grandchildren, he will always be known as "Grandad". He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Private graveside services will follow at a later date.
