Charlene Rimkus
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Charlene Rimkus, 78, died at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at Capitol Care Center.
Charlene was born Feb. 24, 1935, in Chatham, the daughter of Charlie and Nellie Thomae Bale. She married John E. Rimkus on April 17, 1955; he preceded her in death.
Charlene enjoyed sailing, fishing and growing orchids.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard Rimkus.
She is survived by two sons, Anthony (wife, Renata) Rimkus of Springfield and Victor (wife, Linda) Rimkus of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren: Jeremiah Rimkus, Trisha Rimkus, Rebeka (husband, Greg) Brown and Nathan Wayne (wife, Gladys) Rimkus; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Naomi Brown; four siblings: June A. (husband, James) Skinner, Wilma J. (husband, Robert) Minder, Nellie J. (husband, Darrell) Smith and Kathryn E. (husband, William) Merriweather; one sister-in-law, Barbara Dirksen; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Conley A. Zomermaand officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, Midwest Chapter, Central DuPage Hospital Care Center, 1800 N. Main St., Ste. 215, Wheaton, IL 60187.
