Elsabelle P. "Pat" Bennett
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Elsabelle P. "Pat" Bennett, 97, passed away at 9:04 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
Pat was born Aug. 26, 1916, in Chicago, the daughter of William Joseph and Elizabeth Jane Eiden Fitzpatrick. She married William G. Bennett on June 22, 1963 in Springfield.
Pat attended St. Francis Grade School and graduated from Mallincrodt High School, both in Wilmette, Ill. She then attended St. Mary's of Notre Dame. Pat was employed at Sears from 1950 until 1963 and then went on to work at LaBonte's until retirement in 1993. She was a member of the American Business Women Association, Postal Club, Elks Ladies #158, and Eagles Ladies #437. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, reading, flower gardening, the St. Louis Cardinals, and polka and jitterbug dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clifton P. Walker; two brothers, Dr. William J. Fitzpatrick, Jr. and John G. Fitzpatrick; and two grandsons, Timothy Patrick and Dehen Daniel Mulrooney.
She is survived by her husband, William G. Bennett of Springfield; her children, William "Bill" O. (wife, Dolores) Walker of Bossier City, La., Janice M. (husband, Ronald) Mulrooney-Kuhn of Springfield, Janice L. Nobbe of Chatham, William (wife, Sharon) Bennett III of Farmersville, and Susan I. (husband, Leroy) Kasch of Farmersville; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:15 a.m., Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Ring, celebrant. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
