Lawrence "Larry" Pisani Jr.
SAN ANTONIO, TX - Lawrence "Larry" Pisani Jr., 77, formerly of Springfield, Ill., passed away on April 3, 2014, in San Antonio after a year-long battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Ironwood, Mich., to Lawrence Sr. and Vennie Steele Pisani.
Survived by his wife, Shirley Pisani of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Vennie Walters of Geneva, Ill.; son, Peter Vallone of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Christine Pisani of Boise, Idaho; twin granddaughters, Sophie and Zoe Spanbauer of Boise, Idaho; stepdaughter, Laura LeVeque of Kerrville, Texas; sister, Mary Jean Western of Springfield; a sister, Sandy Walters of Geneva, Ill.; several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
Larry proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict from February 1954-February 1962.
While in Springfield, his many friends remember him mainly as the "ultra friendly" owner-manager-bartender of Pisani's Beer Garden. In 1985, he relocated to San Antonio where he worked for Pizza Ventures and was very active in veteran's organizations.
Internment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, attended by an honor guard and officiated by Fr. Daniel Petrillo on April 30, 2014, at 11 a.m.
