Duane Turley Obituary
Reverend Duane Harlow Turley, 79, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at St. John's Hospital.
He was born on October 2, 1937 in Mt. Pulaski the son of Everett and Samantha Calvert Turley. He married Dorothy Hand on August 26, 1961; she preceded him in death in 2008.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He began his ministry at Richland Church and went on to be Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Chandlerville for 37 years. He completed his ministry at Richland Creek Baptist Church as a guest minister. Along with being a Pastor, Duane was self-employed in the heating and plumbing industry.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Harold and Jim Turley; sister, Lucille Turley and an infant sibling.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Young and Lorna Lash both of Pleasant Plains; one sister, Rosemary Fuiten of Mt. Pulaski; three grandchildren, Jennifer Young, Josh (Hannah) Young and Danna Glenn; three great-grandchildren, Liam Glenn, Kenleigh Young and Harper Young; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Bobby Lounsberry and Reverend Keith Masten officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

I so enjoyed listening to Brother Duane "tickle the ivories" play the piano. He Blessed our church with sermons whenever he could and even after he retired. He was and is an inspiration to me and I will always remember him for his love and passion for others and for being a part of my life. Will miss him deeply! Praying for the loved ones he has left behind for God to comfort them in their loss.

Human words could ever express, the life of this great man. A gentle spirit,a heart for God, and a love for people, are just a few things we will always remember about Brother Turley. Oh, how God blessed us, by allowing our lives to be touched by Pastor T! Heaven is a little bit sweeter, now, the music a little richer, because a true servant of God, has gone to his reward, he will truly be missed by many! Our hearts and prayers are with his wonderful family and our dear friends of Bethel Baptist Church, God bless -Pastor Chris Crane and family
