Beatrice Therese Stratton, age 90, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 23, 2014.
She was born in Seattle, WA on July 30, 1923 to Alfred and Lucille Christianson.
She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1941 and attended Marylhurst College in Oregon
.
She married the love of her life, Jerry Stratton on August 19, 1943 in Mount Vernon Washington, where they raised 8 children.
She loved spending time with her family, taking great joy in her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, particularly her roses, the beach, taking long drives, reading, sewing and knitting. (She especially loved to cook and clean....) and enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams the Sonics and Mariners. Always thinking of others, even while working outside the home and raising her children, she spent many years volunteering for numerous organizations such as The Friendship House, Meals on Wheels, The Women's Guild, and St. Vincent de Paul.
She was an amazing wife, generous friend and self-sacrificing mother. She was a woman that many called their favorite aunt. She was a second mother and grandmother to many a role she gladly took on and loved.
She is survived by sons, Timothy (Sandy), Michael (Jane) and Christopher and daughters, Julie Ann and Diane (John) Gregory as well as 12 grandchildren, Jason, Danielle, Derek, Aaron, Staci, Sean, Zachary, Elijah, Madeline, Jaimie, Lindsay and Dylan, 2 great-grandchildren, Briar and Camille, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Inez Kuder and Anna MacDonald, brother, Alfred Christianson, husband Jerry Stratton, sons Gregory and Richard Stratton and daughter Mary Adele Stratton-White.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful and supportive team from Hospice and will be forever indebted to the compassionate and loving care given to our precious mom by her personal caregiver, Katie Burt.
Bea was truly loved by all and will be forever carried in our hearts.
