BRITO, SOCORRO  
Socorro Brito, 85, a resident of Bow died on Friday, August 21, 2015. She was born on July 24, 1930 in Loving, New Mexico, a daughter of Jose & Blasa Porras. In 1965, she and her husband moved to the Bow-Edison area to seek a better life and schooling for their children. Some of her hobbies and interests included embroidering, reading, crossword puzzles, watering her flowers and watching her novellas. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include six sons, Manuel Brito of Bow, Alfonso Brito of Seattle, Margarito Brito of Mount Vernon, Jose Brito of Gig Harbor, Rene Brito of Bow, and, Daniel Brito of Bow; six daughters, Esperanza Bullock of Seattle, Vicky Garcia of Alger, Ana Graham of Las Vegas, Veta Upton of Tacoma, Lita Brito of Bow, Cristina O'Larey of Sedro-Woolley; two sisters, Manuela Rangel and Hortencia Porras of Burlington; four brothers, Oscar Porras of Acme, and, Louis Porras, Martin Porras and Chon Porras all of Texas; 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Hulbush Funeral Home, 281 So. Burlington Blvd, Burlington. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 935 Peterson Road, Burlington followed by interment in Burlington Cemetery. Remembrances are suggested to Special Olympics, Skagit Sunburst, PO Box 1162, Mount Vernon 98273.

BUCHANAN, JOAN (FREDRICKSON)  
June 4, 1923 - August 9, 2015 Joan Fredrickson Buchanan, 92, of Mount Vernon, WA, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Mira Vista Care Center. Born June 4, 1923 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of the late Delmar T. and Pearl Johnson Fredrickson. She lived in Cassadaga, NY from 1923-1954, when the family moved to Lancaster, PA, then Topeka, KS, from 1956-1992 and in March of 1992 to Mount Vernon, WA. Joan graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central School, Sinclairville, NY in 1940; attended Jamestown Business College, Jamestown, NY and graduated from Washburn University, Topeka, KS in 1983 with a degree in accounting. She was employed in auditing and accounting with business, accounting firms, county and state governments, retiring in June, 1989 as the accountant for the Kansas Department on Aging, Topeka, KS. Joan was a member of the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church and had served as deacon and choir member. She also was active in the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Topeka, KS serving in the choir, elder, deacon and church treasurer. Mother of Bonnie (Michael) Mauldin of Albuquerque, NM and Kurt (Janice) Buchanan of Mount Vernon, WA; grandmother of Kendall (Audrey) Mauldin of Columbia, MD, Kevin Mauldin of Albuquerque, NM, Jennifer Buchanan (Joe) Nicholson of Seattle, WA and Sam Buchanan of Mount Vernon, WA; great-grandmother of Sophia and Enoch Mauldin; sister of Marian (Donald) Ward of Hamburg, NY; sister in law of Kathryn Fredrickson of Rochester, NY and is also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Memorials to the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1511 East Broadway, Mount Vernon, WA 98274. Arrangements by Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville, NY.

BUCHANAN, RANDY  
Randolph (Randy) Ellis Buchanan, age 65, was born May 2, 1950 to parents Ellis & Ruby Buchanan. He passed away peacefully August 20, 2015 at Skagit Valley Hospital. Randy was raised in Clear Lake, WA and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1969. He married Linda Waite in 1969 and they shared 46 years of marriage in Day Creek, WA. Randy worked for his dad at A&B Shake mill salvaging downed cedar in the woods and later sawed shakes in the mill until he was disabled. He was a Day Creek volunteer fireman for 11 years. Fishing, pheasant hunting, and camping were his favorite past times. Randy is survived by his family that he dearly loved; his parents, Ellis & Ruby; wife Linda; daughter, Cherie (Jason) Buchanan-Kaech and their children, Lorissa Bumgarner and her fiancé Jesse Hunt and their sons, Waylon and Wiley Hunt and Jacob and Austin Kaech; daughter, Tara Swenson and husband Matt and their children, Curtis and Mason Swenson and Carrie (Richard) Phillips; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Brian Waite and their sons, Bryce (Molly) Waite and their children B.J. and Hailey Waite, and Colby Waite and his children Alyx and Weston Waite; his parents-in-law, Donald & Donna Waite and his brother-in-law, John (Suzanne) Waite. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, with a close relationship to cousin Fred Tewalt and nephew Bryce Waite. Per Randy's request, there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made in his memory to the Day Creek Fire Department #16, 31693 S. Skagit Hwy, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
