BEVERLY VIOLA (HUSTAD) BOZANICH(1923 - 2014)

BEVERLY VIOLA HUSTAD BOZANICH

Beverly Viola Hustad Bozanich, 90, of Tucson, Arizona and former long time Anacortes resident died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home in Tucson.

She was born on August 1, 1923 in Minot Ward County, North Dakota to Knute Hustad and Beda (Houge) Hustad and graduated from Minot High School in June of 1941.

On August 9, 1941 Bev was united in marriage to Anthony J. Bozanich in Anacortes, Washington at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Gustave Treunet officiating.

Bev was active in PTA all through her children's school year, beginning as a room mother and served two terms as President of AHS PTA. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and helped with the Girl Scouts as well. For ten years she and Anthony were Seattle Times Dealers for Anacortes. She ran the route and was a "first boss" for many young Anacortes boys. She was active at St. Mary Catholic Church until she moved to Tucson, AZ in 2004. Her involvement included being a Eucharistic minister, serving on the funeral luncheon and rummage sale committees, and serving as President of Holy Family Guild.

In 2004, she moved to Tucson, AZ to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and John White. There she continued to be active at Most Holy Trinity Parish and traveling with Jackie and John. She was able to visit both homelands of her Swedish and Norwegian parents and cruised through the Panama Canal twice.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (Tony); son, Dr. Peter K. Bozanich; parents; brother, Kermit Hustad; and sister, Beatrice Hustad.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Jacqueline and John White of Tucson, AZ; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Janice Bozanich of Reno, NV; and daughter-in-law, Sharlene Bozanich of Spokane, WA. Seven grandchildren survive her: Leona Bozanich of Reno, NV, John A. (Janice) White of Costa Mesa, CA, Michael (Janelle) Brookman of Briar, WA, Kenneth (Michelle) White of Phoenix, AZ. Jason Bozanich of Seattle, WA, Jon Bozanich and Pat Flynn of Reno, NV, Sara (Gordon) Bell of Portland, OR; and ten great-grandchildren, Cody Bozanich, of Reno, NV, Cameron Lewis of Costa Mesa, CA, Kayla, McKenna and Broderick Bell of Portland, OR, Timothy and Abigail White of Phoenix, AZ, Megan and Christian Bozanich-Flynn of Reno, NV, Elizabeth Brookman, of Briar, WA, Heather Reger of Costa Mesa, CA, and Carrie-Anne Clark of Yorba Linda, CA; four great-great-grandchildren, Alexis Reger, Gabe Vera, and Connor and Nolan Clark.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by interment at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes, where Bev will be buried next to her husband. A memorial Mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Parish in Tucson at a later date.
