GEORGE THOMAS OVENELL

George Thomas Ovenell, lifetime resident of Stanwood, Washington.

George Ovenell, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 7, 2013.

He was born September 22, 1932 to Ted Ovenell Sr. and Agness Megaard Ovenell, a Pioneer farm family.

He graduated from Twin City High School in 1950 and shortly thereafter, married his high school sweetheart, Jeanie Fridlund. Together they were blessed with four children.

He started his career in the logging industry, proudly worked as part of the team responsible for building the Trans Alaska Pipeline, was a 47 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 302 and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.

He was the hardworking owner/operator of Ovenell Backhoe Service. He was a big fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners and he was very dedicated to his family.

He was survived by his son, Tom; his daughters, Kris (Rick) Anderson; LeaAnne (Duane) Eddy; and 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Margaret (Joe) Stewart; his brother, Marvin (Gayle) Anderson; his sister-in-law, Jackie Ovenell; numerous extended family and his best buddy, Farv.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanie Ovenell; parents, Ted, Agnes and Mary Ovenell; his son, Scott Ovenell and brother, Ted Ovenell.

Visitation will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Tuesday, March 12th - Thursday, March 14th, 2013 from 9:00am to 4:30pm.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 16th, 2013 at the Bonnie Cole Building (Red Barn), Stanwood Camano Fairgrounds. Feel free to wear your hickory shirts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stanwood Camano Food Bank or the National Rifle Association.

The Ovenell Family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Providence Everett Medical Center for their care.
