James William Haubner, 71, of Yakima, WA died in Mount Vernon on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

He was born in Mount Vernon on February 10, 1943, the son of John & Lois (Wilson) Haubner.

He moved to Burley, ID with his parents and graduated from high school in 1961. After some college he worked in sheet metal & moved to Moses Lake, WA starting his own business.

Jim married Claudette Alexander in Yakima, WA on December 5th, 1980. He worked for Yakima Roofing as a sheet metal estimator for several years, and then worked for Johnson Mechanical until his retirement.

Jim loved to fish, and had lots of exciting trips with his wife. He played golf and loved it. After a stroke in 2007 he became Claudette's golf instructor which he really enjoyed. He was caught hiding behind trees so she wouldn't be nervous and to see if she was following his instructions. He had planned to play more golf and build a boat this summer.

He had coffee with friends from work three times a week to talk fishing, politics, and solve world problems.

Survivors are his beautiful golfing wife, Claudette Haubner; his blended family of five children whom he loved, Jay Haubner & Cindy, Redding, CA, Jeff Haubner, Yakima, WA, Brenda Haubner & Ronnie, Clarkston, WA, Ronda Doud & Steve Simonis, La Grande, OR, and Ronnie Doud, Yakima, WA; four grandchildren, Justin Miller, Spokane, WA, Lindsey Willis, La Grande, OR, Joshua Doud, Yakima, WA, and Jimmy Haubner, Redding, CA; his sister, Bonnie Jean Belgard of Mount Vernon, WA, who he dearly loved; and his brother, John Haubner & Kathy of Fair Oaks, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Lois (Wilson) Haubner.

Jim was one of the best & kindest men anyone could meet, a friend to everyone. A celebration of life will be held later in Yakima, WA. He will be missed.
