LOIS MAXINE (DOBBIN) AUCHTERLONIE


Lois Maxine (Dobbin) Auchterlonie, 95. Lois was born April 14, 1917 on a farm, east of Viola Kansas to parents Thomas M. and Alma R. Dobbin; she passed away peacefully on March 24, 2013 following a fall at her home in Snohomish Washington.

Lois graduated from East High in Wichita Kansas and later attended Wichita State University, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree; she was also President of the Delta-Omega Sorority in her senior year.

She was a Service Pilot in the Women's Air Force, stationed at Sweetwater Texas as part of the W.A.S.P. squadron. Lois was the recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal for her service to our country during World War II. She was also a lifelong member of the 99's, a W.A.S.P. Organization. Being a member of the W.A.S.P. was the most memorable and dearest part of Aunt Lois' life.

On July 27, 1961, she married Charles "Carl" Auchterlonie in Wichita Kansas, they were married for 32 years. Lois' main career was as a technical writer for 32 years at Raytheon in Massachusetts.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother. She is survived by brother-in-law, Kenneth Auchterlonie and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, April 20, 2013 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make a donation to the Animal Shelter of your choice in Lois' honor.
