Mariellen A. Moores 78, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Skagit Valley Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born September 22, 1935 in Tagus, North Dakota to Oscar and Clara (Bjornstad) Faaberg. She was the youngest of four children. At the age of three the family moved to Sedro-Woolley, WA. She graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1953 and then went to business college in Seattle, WA.
On October 4, 1958 she married Arnold Moores. Together they raised three children, Kathy, Jim and Dave.
Mariellen worked for National Frozen Foods in Burlington as office Manager for several years. She retired in 1997.
Mariellen loved to travel. They took several trips to Hawaii, traveled the U.S.A. in their RV and cruised the Mediterranean. The last 15 winters were spent in Yuma, Arizona at Sunny Sands.
Mariellen loved the beach! In celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary the whole family spent a week at the beach in Lincoln City, Oregon.
She also loved antiques and garage sales! She enjoyed helping out at her daughter's antique shop.
Mariellen was the proud grandma of six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also "grandma" to Sara Peterson.
She was preceded in death be her parents Oscar and Clara Faaberg; brother, Rudy Faaberg; sisters, Carol Carpenter and Christine Metcalf.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Moores of 55 years; daughter, Kathy (Leo) Tellesbo and their four children, Bryce (Adelyn & Cameron), Tyler, Haley and Katey Tellesbo of Fir Island; sons, Jim (Julie) Moores, their two daughters, Jenna and Laura of Mount Vernon and David (Nancy) Moores of Mount Vernon; niece, Diane (Dan) Bartek of Burlington and nephews, Vance and Larry Metcalf of Sedro Woolley, also many other nieces and nephews and cousins.
She also leaves behind all the wonderful friends at Sunny Sands in Yuma, Arizona.
A private family graveside will be held at Mount Vernon Cemetery. A celebration of Life for Mariellen will be held at a later date, when the "Snow Birds" come home!
