Mary Dianne Hantelmann Eason, 75, a forty-year resident of Gig Harbor, Washington, died Monday, March 31st at her home with her family.
She was born August 11, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Washington to Fred and Mildred Hantelmann.
Mary graduated from Mount Vernon High school and St. Joseph's School of Nursing. After graduation, Mary was hired as a Registered Nurse by the University of Washington Medical Center where she worked in Pediatrics, specializing in premature babies.
In 1974, Mary and her family moved to Gig Harbor, Washington, where Mary worked for Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma. Mary quickly earned leadership roles and became the Administrator of all Out-patient care, including Recovery Room, Kelly Eye Center and Day Surgery.
After retirement, and through this past season, Mary continued to stay involved in nursing and thoroughly enjoyed administering flu shots for MultiCare's Outreach Program.
Mary met her husband of 54 years, Patrick Eason of Bellingham, Washington while attending nursing school. They raised three lovely daughters, all of whom graduated from Carroll College in Montana and still reside in the Puget Sound area.
Mary is survived by her husband Pat, daughters Sara Eason Flanagan, Jennifer Kay Eason, Katrina Eason Ellis (Mike) and her beautiful granddaughters Sydney Safley, Sofie Safley, Morgan Safley, and her handsome grandsons Patrick Ellis and John Ellis.
Mary will be honored in a private family service on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Mary's favorite charities, The Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul.
