MaryAnn Estes, 77, of New Braunfels, TX, and former Skagit County resident, peacefully passed away on August 19, 2013 at Skagit Valley Hospital, surrounded by her family and the love and prayers of her many friends.
MaryAnn was born in Everett, Washington, January 23, 1936. She was raised in Startup, Washington. Her family moved to Eureka, CA, in her teen years where she attended high school. In 1954 she met and Married Clyde O'dell Estes. Together they had four children.
MaryAnn earned her CNA and worked at the Sedro-Woolley Convalescent Center for many years until moving to Houston (Clear Lake), TX, in 1995 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
MaryAnn loved to give of herself and her time. She volunteered at the Grace Community Church, in Clear Lake, TX, for many years as well as Bay Area Turning Point, a crisis intervention center and shelter in Webster, TX. After moving to New Braunfels, TX, in 2006 she volunteered at the New Braunfels Senior Center Resale Shop. MaryAnn loved to crochet, knit, embroider and quilt. She loved all animals especially her dog Rufus and her favorite baseball team the Texas Rangers.
MaryAnn is survived by her daughters, Debbie Johnson and husband Corey of Lyman, Washington, Sandy Rich and husband Mike of New Braunfels, TX; grandsons, Michael Estes and wife DeAnna, Daniel Estes and Nicole Messer, and Jason Draper Estes; granddaughters, Stacey and husband Ronnie Corne, Jodi and Rodney Lavine, and Jennifer and Dillon Fugate; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Shayna and Jordan Corne, Jacy Ammons, Farrah Estes, Riley Hoyle and Brody Estes, Grady Fugate and Olivia Draper.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Critical Care Unit at Skagit Valley Hospital for their care and compassion during this very difficult time. Memorials are suggested to the Comal County Senior Center, 655 Landa Street, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
Graveside inurnment services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Lyman Cemetery, Lyman, Washington.
