MICHAEL JOHN "MAC" MCAULEY JR.(1966-2012)

Michael John McAuley Jr. was born October 12, 1966 in Garden Grove, CA and died unexpectedly on September 18, 2012 in Lubbock, TX, at the age of 45.

He moved with his family to Washington State in 1974 and joined the U.S. Army in his Sophomore year. In 1985 he graduated from Sedro Woolley High School and in May 1986 married Jacqueline Larson of Blaine.

After 7 years as a Combat Medic & Radiographer Michael returned to civilian life and created "Dirt Road Magazine" for Jeep enthusiasts.

"Mac" is survived by his wife Jacqueline, an active duty RN at Cannon AFB, and 3 children: Michael III (17), Sarah (15), and Thomas (10). Other survivors include his father Michael Sr. & Susan McAuley of Palm Springs, CA, mother Susan Zamaria (Steve) of Mount Vernon, WA; four sisters: Michele & husband D.J. & their children Jackson & Benjamin Talarico; Lisa, Katie and Julie & husband; cousins: Gina & husband Tony & children Anthony & Sophia Chiaramonte; Jason & daughter Vanessa Wagner.

Michael "Mac" was an absolute technology nut. He loved all sorts of gadgets, from odd batteries to robotics, iPods to UAVs. He taught himself and worked closely with computers throughout his life and career.

As a hobby he was a survivalist and interested in solar power and renewable energy sources.

Jeeping offered him peace, serenity and the chance to get away from it all for camping, hiking, photography, living off the land, testing new products, and, of course "Spending time with my family - we do everything together".

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Breese Zamaria, grandmother "Mi-Mi" Bergene Zamaria Goldman, and cousin Billy Wagner.

Services were held on September 25, 2012 at Hillcrest Park Sunken Garden in Clovis, N.M.
