Roger Douglas Peterson, 75, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at United General Hospital.
He was born in Burlington, WA on March 21, 1939 at the old hospital on Fairhaven Avenue. He was the only child of Clarence B. & Ethel E. (Jones) Peterson.
Roger was a fourth generation Skagitonian, but moved often due to his father's career as a J.C. Penney manager. They finally settled in Yakima where Roger graduated from A.C. Davis High School with the class of 1958. He later attended Yakima Valley Junior College.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Lane in Yakima and they made their home in Skagit County, first living in Burlington for a few years until settling in Sedro-Woolley where they raised their family.
Roger and his parents owned and operated Van's Style Shop in Burlington until 1977.
Roger was a history buff, particularly researching local history; and he served for many years on the Sedro-Woolley Museum Board of Directors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret and his daughters, Debra Peterson and Cheryl Peterson all of Sedro-Woolley.
At his request there will be no public services.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley Museum or to Friends of the Sedro-Woolley Library.
