Stan Bruce passed on to be with the Lord on August 5, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was 89 years old. He was born in Orange, CA to Benjamin and Dorothy Bruce on July 23, 1924.
Stan graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, OR and attended Gonzaga University. He served in the US Army for 3 years, assigned to the European Theater. He lived in Spokane after the war and held various sales jobs. After retirement he moved to Oak Harbor and pursued his sailing passion, and later moved to Mt. Vernon where he met and married his wife, Gisela. They resided in Bend, OR for 20 years before returning to Mt. Vernon.
Stan was a fun loving person who loved to dance and play the piano and to entertain anyone who was willing to listen. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Gisela, his children Robert Bruce and Janet Smith and their mother, Rosalie Bruce, and 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. At Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 S. 18th St., Mt. Vernon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Northwest and Home Place Care Center in Burlington, WA.
