SUSAN D. (HOOP) BISHOP(1947 - 2013)

Susan D. (Hoop) Bishop, 66, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 following a brief illness.

Susan was born September 27, 1947 to Jay D. and Mary Jo (Keron) Hoop in Fresno, California.

After graduating in 1965 from Bullard High School in Fresno, she attended Washington State University in Pullman, graduating in June 1970 with a degree in Sociology. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

Susan married Gary Bishop July 6, 1975 in Fresno and resided in Burlington, Washington. Gary brought his three children to their marriage. They were married 38 years.

Susan worked at Deming Jewelers in Mount Vernon. She also worked for Puget Power in the Burlington Line Room and later in the local office until her retirement in 1993.

Susan was a loving and caring parent to all her stepchildren and their families, her niece and nephew and their families. She was called Aunt Susan by nearly all her family. She was called Grandma Susan by her grandchildren.

Many words and expressions are used to describe Susan and her positive influence on the many lives she touched: vivacious, full of life and laughter, beautiful spirit and smile.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Jay and Mary Jo Hoop, father-in-law Art Bishop, brother-in-law Bob Sarvis, sister-in-law Jane Hoop, and Kelly Kirkpatrick.

Susan is survived by her husband Gary Bishop, sister-in-law Betty Sarvis, brother Kerry Hoop (Kathy Russeth), sister Joanne Ostlund, stepchildren Jeff Bishop (Milly), Tami Hoeft (Dave) and Scott Bishop. Also surviving are niece Susan Basham (Marshall), nephew David Ostlund (Summer), grandchildren Becky Henning (Brandon), Stephanie Voss (Brandon), Kristen Mowrer (Evan), Katie Pierson, great niece Avery Ostlund and great nephew Evan Ostlund, great grandchildren Megan Henning and Kadee Voss.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Providence Hospital in Everett and Everett Clinic for their excellent and professional care of Susan and her family during her illness. A special thanks to Dr. Lukas, Dr. Wisbeck, Dr. Wright and Dr. Hoeft.

At Susan's request, no service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to your favorite cancer-related charity.
