He and Crecencia were Sharecroppers at King Acres Plantation, in Mississippi. In late 1946, they arrived in Lynden, Washington in the back of a truck with nine other families. Shortly after Lupe, Crecencia and their son Emilio walked from Lynden to Allen, WA in the middle of winter to find work they found her brother Julian working in Allen for E.L. Sandell and they worked for him until his death. They then worked for the elder Mr. Sakuma working his first ten acres of strawberries and later for Nelson Potatoes in Burlington, Omdal Farms and Dellinger Farms. He enjoyed field work all of his life.

In the early Spanish Ministry of Skagit County he served as a Eucharistic Minister taking the Eucharist to people who were homebound or in the hospital.

He loved his family and especially his wife of 65 years, who he took loving care of until she was called home in 2007.

He is greatly loved and will be missed. Viewing will be held Thursday March 17, 2011 9am until 4pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home. Uncle Wally was one of the hardest workers I have ever known. He was a man that could out work anyone, anywhere anyplace and he never complained. He was devoted to his wife, kids and grandkids. We will miss him greatly. My deepest condolences and may God bless the family during this time of loss.

May God bless this family during your time of loss. Guadalupe was a man of integrity and valor. He always placed his family first. I met Guadalupe and his family when they were working the fields. His work and work ethics were exemplary.

He served as Eucharist Minister to many persons. His generosity will always be remembered by the persons he served.
