CHARLES PETTY Obituary

Charles A. Petty, 80, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born on May 30, 1930 in Hardy, Nebraska the son of Charles & Francis (Traub) Petty.

The Petty family moved to Sedro-Woolley when Charles was a young boy and there he was raised and attended school. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1948.

He later joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Charles worked for Boeing for a while and at other occupations but worked foremost as a welder at Skagit Steel (Bendix) for many years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union and was awarded a certificate for 45 years of loyal service.

Charles' love of his family came first, then camping.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley.

His son, Mike Petty and his wife Sherry of Lyman; and his two daughters, Becky French and her husband Walt of Birdsview and Nancy Petty of Sedro-Woolley; his brother, Eugene Petty and his wife Donna of Vader, WA; and his sister, Betty Adams and her husband Elwin of Anacortes; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

No immediate services are planned.
