OPAL FALKNER-DAVIS Obituary

Opal I. Falkner-Davis, 91, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon.

She was born on May 23, 1919 in Appanoose County, Iowa, the daughter of Orville & Siotha (Turner) Houser.

She moved to Washington and Skagit County in 1937.

Opal was united in marriage to Floyd L. Falkner in 1941 in Mount Vernon. After living at Mount Vernon, Arlington, and Ellensburg, they settled in Clear Lake in 1946. He preceded her in death in February of 1962.

Opal worked for several years as a seamstress and baby sitter. She then married Leo H. Davis in 1969 and he preceded her in death in September of 1981.

Opal was a long time member of Community Covenant Church, serving as deaconess, treasurer and secretary of the church board. She was also a member of Covenant Women, serving as membership chairman, mission's chairman, and treasurer of that organization.

Besides the welfare of her family, she was dedicated to designing and making banners for her church sanctuary and in the making of quilts. Many of which were blue ribbon winners.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister, Edna Mehroff; and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Houser.

Opal is survived by her two daughters, Marjorie Falkner of Mount Vernon and Joan Jansma of Clear Lake; two sons, Gary Falkner and his wife Sara and Duane Falkner all of Sedro-Woolley; her grandchildren, Paul Hoeft (Rosalee), David Hoeft (Carolyn), Steve Hoeft (Lynn) Joni Boyce (Keith), Jeff Jansma (Karen), James Jansma (Sonya), and Jason Falkner (Stacy); five great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10:30AM with Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating.

Private Family Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church or a charity of your choice.

Services are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Opal she sounds like a wonderful woman and I am truly sorry for your loss. I hope that the coming days are brightened by good memories and the hope of seeing your beloved mother and grandmother again.
