ANNA DIERST Obituary

Anna Catharina Dierst (nee Spieker) passed away peacefully on February 12, 2011 in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Dierst was born on September 16, 1920 in Amsterdam, Holland, The Netherlands to Anna and Gerrit Spieker.

The family immigrated to the United States to New Jersey in 1929. Anna (Anne) then later moved to the Seattle (Kirkland) area in 1978 where she then met and married Robert (Bob) Dierst.

Bob and Anne then eventually moved to their permanent home in 1997 to Willett Street in Mount Vernon; a town and community they grew to know and love. Anne had requested her ashes be spread on her roses on the family property.

Mrs. Dierst is survived by her beloved husband, Bob; her four children, John (and wife, Marie) Garrett of Petaluma, CA, William Garrett of Woodland Park, CO, Carol Garrett of Thomaston, CT, and Roger (and wife, Sonnie) Garrett of Sparta, NJ. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her sister, Maria Martin; her brothers, Peter, Ben and William Spieker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Kern Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Deegan officiating.
