ROBERT WAITS Obituary
He graduated from La Conner High School in 1942 and entered the United States Navy in 1943.
He met the love of his life Edna Dow on a blind date in Bellingham and they were married on October 11, 1946. They moved to La Conner to raise their family.
He worked for Whiz Fish Company in La Conner, owned and operated Zimmerman and Waits Service Station in La Conner for 7 years, worked for Skagit County for 5 years and then he moved to Burlington and worked for Skagit Corp. where he retired in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and SeaBees reunions. He was a member of the American Legion Sedro-Woolley Post, the Skagit Rovers RV Club and the Fredonia Grange #545.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Edna of Burlington; son Rod (Janice) Waits of Sunnyville, CA; daughter Vickie (Michael) MacKenzie of Camano, CA; sister Betty Stewart of Mount Vernon; 2 grandchildren, twins Travis Waits of Beaverton, OR and Michelle Loring of San Jose, CA , and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Waits.
Memorials may be given in memory of Robert to your favorite charity.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.

Edna, Rod and Vicki I am so sorry to here about Bob's passing. Glad to know where you all are tho. It's been so many years since I've known your where abouts. Mom and Dad have been gone for a number of years now. Jack too. Anyway, sorry about Bob, I have so many happy memories of you all. Keep in touch if you'd like.
