CAROL ATWOOD Obituary

Carole Ann Atwood of Burlington died peacefully on February 3, 2011 at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer.

She was born November 7, 1936 in Oakland, CA to Lloyd and Esther Heavin.

She was married to Ken Geoghegan and lived in Sacramento, CA, then moved to Elko, NV and later married George Atwood.

Carole was an enrolled agent and worked at Phanner and Tate Accounting Service for 10 years in Sacramento before starting her own business, Carole Atwood's Tax Services which she operated for 20 years. She then sold her business and moved to Washington to be closer to her grandchildren.

She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant at home so she could help with her grandchildren anytime it was needed. She would stop anything she was doing to help.

A member of the Mount Vernon Elks, she also helped with their bookkeeping.

Carole loved traveling, playing pinochle and bridge, spending time on and around the water, but most of all, she loved to cook.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Dorothy Geoghegan; two grandchildren, Kevin and Kelli Ann Geoghegan; her brother, Leonard Heavin; five nieces and one nephew.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Lloyd Heavin; and nephew, Chris Heavin.

Memorial services will be held a 3 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Burlington Lutheran Church, 134 E. Victoria Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Skagit Special Olympics, PO Box 1162, Mount Vernon 98273, or, your favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.
