BERTHA CLICK Obituary

Bertha (Bert) Lorena Click, 86, of Anacortes, Washington passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Fidalgo Care Center in Anacortes.

She was born on September 30, 1924 in Littleton, Iowa, the oldest daughter of Eddie and Pearl Butters.

Bert married at age nineteen and had one son, Bob. Later her travels led her and her son to San Diego, California where she met William Click. They were married for forty three years and had two sons, Bill and Randy. In 1959 her family was transferred to Whidbey Island Naval Base. Bert and her husband chose Anacortes as their home and the place they would raise their family. Here she remained for the rest of her life.

During her younger years Bert worked in a bomb factory to help the war effort. In Anacortes she worked for several years at the fish canneries during the boom years. She was an accomplished seamstress, loved to quilt, an excellent cook, and an avid walker. Bert also enjoyed visiting and traveling with her Samish group of friends. Her love for the outdoors found her at many baseball games watching her sons and grandsons play ball. She also loved going on extended hunting and fishing trips with her husband and friends. But most of all she enjoyed her family and friends, especially her four grandsons and most recently her two great-grandchildren.

Bert was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be truly missed but not forgotten.

Bert was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Click; and daughter-in-law, Connie (Dutton) Kies.

She is survived by her three sons and daughter-in-law, Bob Kies of Mount Vernon, Billy and Brenda Click of Clear Lake, and Randy Click of Anacortes; four grandsons, Trent Kies, Ryan Kies, Matt Click, Mike Click, and Meridith Lund; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Katelynn Click; her sister, Wilma Knoll of Florida; sister-in-law, Lu Allgood of Ephrata; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Chris Jadro and Donna Jung.

A celebration of Bert's life will be held from 1:00 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at her son's home, 2401-15th Street, Anacortes.

A special thanks goes to Fidalgo Care Center (Mt. Adams) and Hospice of the Northwest for their tender care of our, Mother. Thank you.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands. To share memories of Bert, please sign the online guest register at www.evanschapel.com.

We just learned of your loss and wanted to extend our sympathy. Our parents were friends with Bert. We have precious memories of Bert from our parents, when she visited Iowa and by keeping in touch. She had a zest for life and loved her family deeply. May your wonderful memories comfort you.

Bill and Randy,
You were boys in my Junior Sunday School class at Anacortes Church of Christ around the early 1960s. I always liked you both and have always hoped you both accepted Jesus as Lord. My prayers are with you both and your families as you deal with the loss of your beloved mom. May our Lord God be gracious to you all.
