WALLACE OGLESBEE Obituary

Wallace "Frank" Franklin Oglesbee, 78, of La Conner, Washington, passed on to his heavenly home, on Monday, December 13, 2010 surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 30, 1932 in Red Lodge, Montana to Ernest and Eva (Dudley) Oglesbee.

Frank received his schooling in Joliet, Montana and went on to college on a scholarship to Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT. He also attended the University of Montana, Western University in Dillion, MT and later on to Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NY to achieve his Master's Degree in Biology.

Frank began his teaching career in 1957 in Stevensville and Hamilton, MT.

He married Roxanne Steeves in 1957 and they had two children and in 1964 he moved his family to Anacortes, Washington.

In 1983 Frank married Carol Kuenle and three more children were brought into the family. Frank was employed as a teacher at Anacortes High School until his retirement in 1991.

Following retirement he so loved to be with all his students, that he continued as a substitute teacher with his friends, John Marshall, Dick Andrew, and Brian Tiland until April 2010, spanning a teaching career of over 53 years.

During his years at Anacortes High School, he taught Biology, Science, and Physical Education. Being that sports were his first love, he naturally went on to become the football coach. He also taught golf and refereed basketball games at other schools during these years, and later became the Athletic Director at Anacortes High School. Frank enjoyed helping his students move on to their greatest goals in life after their high school years, passing on the help he was given as a young man.

For many years during the summer, Frank also worked with combine crews and on oil rigs over many states. While in Washington, he became a truck driver for Texaco and later Skagit Valley Trucking.

Frank enjoyed all sports, fishing the streams in Montana, and hunting, and camping trips with his friends, Dale Elliott (passed), Ed Vadset, and Ray Frier.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Oglesbee; and sisters, Evelyn Pavey and Margaret Kenyon.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Steven Carr; son, Scott and Angela Oglesbee; step-children, Rick Oglesbee, Kim and Mike White, Kendra and Brad Walters and Laura Doyle; grandchildren and spouses, Hannah, Bo and Estelle Oglesbee, Leah and Riley Dunn, Bethany and Josh Sternberg, Emily Jermyn, and Alexa Carr; step-grandchildren, Raggin, Michael, Dan, and Jesse White, Jason and Kasie Walters; great-grandchild, Hunter Sternberg; brother Bill Oglesbee of Texas; and sisters and spouse, Lois and Dale Aaby of Montana, Ruth Hamilton of Wyoming, and Lora Spence of Montana.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the United Methodist Church of Anacortes, 2201 H Avenue.

Donations may be made in Frank's name to a favorite charity of choice.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with your family. I remember Mr. Olgesbee well as I took biology and zoology from him in high school back in the mid 70's. Some of my best school memories were in his classes. He was a nice teacher and will be missed by many.
