Harold E. Hart 74, a longtime resident of Skagit Valley passed away at his home in Arizona on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Harold was born in Huron, South Dakota, the son of John and Erma (Maiers) Hart.

He started grade school in South Dakota, moving to Mount Vernon with his family when he was in the second grade, graduating with the class of 1956 at Mount Vernon High School.

Harold enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country during the Korean War. His tours took him to the Philippines, Japan and Korea. After he was honorable discharged from the Marines he attended Junior College and then went onto Baylor College of Medicine. Harold finished his education at the Mortuary School at Baylor University in Houston, Texas. He owned and operated multiple funeral homes in Washington and Arizona.

Harold is survived by his wife, K.C. (Kathy) Hart; son, David Hart and his wife Kris; daughter, Linda Randall and her husband Bo; step-children, Rhonda Loveland and Chad Schuchard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Debbie.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013, 2:00 PM at Kern Funeral Home, 1122 S. 3rd Street, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273, with Pastor Kevin Forquer officiating. A cryptside service will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home.
