HAZEL SHIVELY Obituary
Hazel was born October 18, 1922 to Hilda and Jonah Johnson in Glendive, Montana. She was the third of five children.
She graduated from Dawson County High School.
She married John D. Shively on January 27, 1951. They had four children.
Hazel worked as a secretary, retiring from Maple Lawn Elementary School in Sumner, WA.
She was a Life Member of Presbyterian Women and served as a Presbyterian Elder. Hazel's alto voice was clear and sweet. She sang in church choirs for many years.
Our beloved mom was preceded in death by her husband John (in 2009) and daughter Kristin (in 1952).
She is survived by one sister, Deanna (Tom) Lagerstrom, of Spokane, WA, and 3 children: Laurie Peil, Puyallup, WA, Allan (Gretchen Bruce) Shively, Seattle, WA, and Kari (John) Mathis, Anacortes, WA. In addition, she is greatly missed by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Anacortes, WA, on May 18, and another service will be held on June 8, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Puyallup, WA, at 11:00 a.m.

I haven't seen Mrs. Shively since 1981 when I graduated SHS. I was a Maplelawner and she was the best, and was always enthusiastic and helpful. I remember being in the nurses office and she was always there until my parents came to get me. RIP and God Bless.

It was my pleasure to have known Hazel during the last year of her life. I enjoyed our late night chats and even after I moved, I continued to pop in and visit when I was in the area. She was a special friend who enjoyed the sweets I brought to her at Christmas just as much as meeting my grandchildren. I'm saddened by her passing as I will miss her but I'm comforted that she is reunited with her beloved John and she is basking in God's light where I know she is at peace. I will miss my friend.
