Theodore R. "Ted" Erickson 88, a longtime resident of the Skagit Valley passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Skagit Valley Hospital. He was born January 18, 1925 to Alice (Suit) and Rudolph Erickson.
The Guest Book is expired.
His early years were spent in the Avon area and Eastern WA. In high school Ted enlisted and served briefly during WWII, and after being honorably discharged from the Navy he returned to graduate from La Conner High School with the class of 1945.
On November 7, 1947 he married Lilly Larson; they made their home in La Conner.
In the early 1950's Ted began farming, building a very successful operation in the Skagit Valley. Like most farmers, he never truly retired. During their life together, Ted and Lilly enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad and then sharing their experiences with family and friends.
Ted was a member of the La Conner Round-Table, where he often had to buy the morning coffee and then go home and ask Lilly for more money. He organized a "guy's lunch group' of friends and schoolmates that met weekly, with Ted as the chauffer. After Lilly's passing, Ted continued to enjoy traveling, dining out with friends and spending time with his family.
Ted is survived by his sons, Steve and his wife Susan, Mark and his wife Kelly; grandchildren, Leslie and her husband Kirk, Natalie and her fiance Dylan, Matthew, Justin; great-grandson, Cael; along with nieces, nephews and their families.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lilly in 2008, brother Robert Erickson, sister, Delores Melville.
The family would like to thank Dr, Aldrich and the critical care teams at Skagit Valley Hospital for their thoughtful care of Ted.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Ted's life on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Farmhouse Inn.
