BETH CAMPBELL Obituary

On Monday, June 6, 2011, Beth Ann Widholm Campbell passed from this life in her home in Ashkum, IL.

She was born September 20, 1950 in Watseka, IL to Milton and Marion Widholm of Ashkum, IL.

Beth leaves behind her husband of 39 years, Con Campbell and their twin daughters, Kelly (Denver, CO) and Katie (Xenia, OH). She also leaves her sister, Janet and Paul Repetto (Boulder, CO); her brother, Jack and Sally Widholm (Champaign, IL); her brother, Eric Widholm (Boynton Beach, FL); her brother-in-law, Rand and Glenda Campbell (Danville, IL); and many nieces and nephews.

Beth lived her life like she fought her cancer - gracefully, with faith, humor, and with her love of Jesus.

She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Retail Marketing and soon after, married Con on August 26, 1972. Beth shared her husband's love of flying and had her own commercial pilot license with an instrument rating. Con's career took them to Dana Point, CA, Anchorage, AK, and Anacortes, WA before returning to her hometown, Ashkum, IL.

Her zest for life was evident in every aspect of her life, but most notably in her devotion to her family and friends. She loved cheering for Katie and Kelly's University of Kansas softball team and traveling with family and friends.

Beth was a woman of many interests and talents. She was devoted to gardening, music, flying, welding, fishing, and canning. Beth's lifelong commitment to the environment and to the land she and Con farmed as a young married couple, as well as a lifetime of community service inspires everyone whose life she touched. Her legacy runs wide and deep.

Beth was a Master Gardener, which eventually led to a business venture called, The Arrangement.

Beth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Danforth, played piano and sang in the church choir. Her commitment to her community began early in her life as a member of 4-H. She was actively involved in 4-H with her daughters and beyond, as a Youth Leader and Advisor. For 32 years, Beth was a member of Kankakee Kultivators and served many terms as president. She was an Iroquois County Fair Flower and Vegetable Superintendant; and a National Flower Show Judge. Beth was named The Junior League of Kankakee's Volunteer of the Year. Two years ago, Beth and her business partner, Paula Warmbir, opened the contemporary home and décor shop, Inside Out in Gilman.

Arrangements are being handled by Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 12 from 2:00 to 8:00Pm. Beth's funeral will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Danforth, on Monday, June 13 at 10:00AM.

Contributions may be made in her memory to St. John's Lutheran Church or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
