Brooke Rishe Baier 96, of LaConner, WA died peacefully on May 9th, 2013. Brooke was born in Tower City, PA on December 30th, 1916.

He received a degree in engineering at Lehigh University and was a veteran of WWII, flying in B-17s over Europe. He worked as an engineer for many years, raised 3 children and retired to share an art gallery in Anacortes, WA with his wife Shirley E. Jones Baier.

In his younger years he enjoyed driving his family up and down the East Coast visiting parks and historic places. He loved his vegetable garden and his dogs. In the Northwest he loved to fish in rivers and Puget Sound.

Brooke is survived by his wife Berta Stellwagen Baier, children Jane Baier-Nelson and husband Tim, Douglas Baier and Kathi Melville and husband Dennis, stepdaughter Carla Stellwagen and husband Jeff, grandchildren Sean Cocco, Melissa Cocco-Mitten, Brooke Melville and Forrest Hausz and 3 great-grandchildren.

He retained his essential gentlemanly character and interest in others throughout his life.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain Glen Retirement Center for their wonderful care and constant kindness to Brooke and his family.

Brooke lived across the street from us at Snee-Oosh Beach when we moved there in 1991 and it was always a joy to talk to him. He will be missed as a neighbor and friend. Mel & Marie Dunbar

My first job after graduating from Sedro Woolley High School was to work as an assistant to Brooke in the Engineering Department at Skagit Bendix Corporation. Brooke was a very bright and well liked man. This was in 1976 but I had seen him off and on in my life since then and he was a kind and gentle man. Rest in Peace, Brooke.
