September 3, 1923 - January 8, 2011
Longtime residents of Shelter Bay, Daniel and Lorraine passed peacefully on January 8th, just hours apart after courageous battles with cancer.
Daniel was a commercial fisherman and asphalt estimator. Lorraine was a beloved school teacher.
After retiring to Shelter Bay they opened Dirty Dan's Cured Meat & Fish in LaConner. They enjoyed their business, boating, growing their own vegetables, bible study and spending time with family.
They are survived by sons Martin Nickerson, Steve Shelton, Jay and Joel Palmer; daughter Jackie Palmer, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A celebration of their lives is planned for May 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Group Health Hospice in Seattle or the MS Society of WA can be made in memory of this very special couple.
