Douglas Harris was born in Luling, Texas on January 8, 1924, the seventh of eight children born of George and Mary Belle Harris.

Living in Harris County, Texas, Doug graduated from Aldine High school. He worked for a seismograph company in Texas and Arkansas prior to joining the US Army Air Force during World War II where he taught instrument flying and radio navigation.

He worked for Texaco refinery in California and moved to Anacortes, Washington in 1958. He retired in 1984 and was an active member of the Masonic Fraternity and past Master of the Mount Baker Lodge number 36.

He married Betty Delores Hendrix in February 1946 in Long Beach, California and is survived by his two children Michael D Harris and Linda Kay Vanderpool, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
