Irene Haarsaker Obituary

Irene J. Haarsaker was born in Rugby, North Dakota on October 30, 1911 and was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, October 9, 2009. She will be laid to rest at Floral Hills with her loving husband, Karl O. Haarsaker, who preceded her in death.

She moved to the Seattle area after her marriage to Karl where they raised their son, Dale. During that time she was employed by Seattle City Light as a secretary and then became a seamstress where she worked with her husband in a Ballard dry cleaning company.

Upon retirement, Karl and Irene moved to Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island where they spent many happy years. After her husband's passing in 1979, Irene moved to Anacortes. There she became extremely active in her Lutheran church, the Anacortes Senior Center and the Anacortes Salvation Army. Those who knew Irene knew her to be a happy, kind, giving person who loved all people.

Irene is survived by her son Dale Haarsaker (wife Brenda) and her two granddaughters and their spouses, Kathy (Steve) Brown and Susan (Kim) Campbell; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Irene's honor may be sent to: Anacortes Senior Center, 1701 22nd St., Anacortes, WA, 98221.
