John Patrick Brennan passed away on May 17, 2012. Known by all as "Pat", he died peacefully at his home in La Puente, Ca, in the company of family and care givers.
The Guest Book is expired.
Pat was born on March 26, 1924 in Boise Idaho. He was raised in Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1942.
He served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific area during WWII. In 1946, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department. Shortly thereafter, he married Lucille Ann Hayden, also from Mount Vernon.
Pat served on LAPD for 30 years and retired as a Lieutenant. He then worked for ten years as an Investigator in the DA's office in San Bernardino County. During these working years, Pat earned a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Pepperdine University.
Pat continued to serve the greater good in retirement by volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Puente and serving in the Senior Patrol Program at the Indsutry Sherriff Station.
Although Pat lived in California for over 60 years, he considered the Skagit Valley his home. He made it his business to know the history of the area and tried to share that knowledge with his family. The Skagit Valley was the reference point to which all other locations were compared. His standard comment upon returning from travels would be - "It was not nearly as nice as the Skagit Valley".
Pat is survived by Lucille Ann, his wife of 65 years, his children Cecilia, Gary, Pat, Theresa, Kathleen, Matthew, Mary Ellen, Kevin, Melissa, John; 18 grandchildren and seven great granchildren. His son Mark died in 1979.
Pat was one of the "good guys" and we trust that he will rest in peace.
