The family finally settled in Santa Rosa, California where he graduated from Santa Rosa High School and Santa Rosa Junior College.

Larry volunteered at Skagit Community Action and became employed there as the coordinator of the pro bono legal services for seven years. Larry was always appreciated by co-workers and clients for his friendliness, easy humor and willingness to listen in a non-judgemental way. These qualities were much appreciated by friends, family and care-givers as well. Mount Vernon was his home.
