Lois Sleipness-Meehan, 85 of Albany was welcomed into the loving arms of God, Tuesday, with her family by her side.

Born March 31, 1927 to Lawrence and Mildred (Palmateer) Brendle, Lois grew up in Sedro Woolley, WA. She graduated high school a year early and moved to Seattle to attend nursing school.
In 1950 Lois married Bert Sleipness in Seattle where they raised sons Russell and John, taking them on many adventures throughout their childhood.
Bert passed away in 1984 and Lois moved from her home of over 30 years to Camano Island, WA.
In 1992 Lois met Alfred Meehan on a flight to the Canary Islands. They married and spent many happy years together traveling the world until Alfred passed away in 2006. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter Heidi.
In 2009 Lois moved to Albany to be near her son John and his family.
A life-long Christian, Lois attended South Albany Community Church.
Throughout her life Lois was a nurse, ex-ray technician and artist, learning to paint with watercolors when she was 50. She took many international trips with the money she earned selling her beautiful art.
Lois loved her family deeply and was an awesome Sister, Mom, Auntie and Grandma.
Lois leaves behind sons Russell and wife Sonja Sleipness of Sedro-Woolley, WA and John Sleipness and wife Laurie Brendle-Sleipness of Albany; brother John Brendle of Woodburn; grandchildren Kjel, Evan, Ole, Emmet and McKenzie and great-grandchildren Freya, Konrad and Annabelle.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012 at South Albany Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the South Albany Community Church Building Fund in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St, Albany, OR 97321.
