Marilyn Barrington, 80, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 28, 2014.

She was born on July 9, 1933 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin; the daughter of Wesley and Katherine (Blevins) Small.

She moved to Skagit County with her parents and siblings in 1939. She picked strawberries and raspberries in the summer to make money for school clothes. In high school, she worked at the Burlington Skating Rink evenings and weekends.

Marilyn graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1951.

On September 2, 1951 Marilyn married her high school sweetheart Rex Barrington. Together they started a life in the USAir Force. They had 5 children. She was a housewife until her children were in school full time. It was at this time; she went to Yuba College in Marysville, CA and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1970.

Rex and Marilyn retired from the US Air Force June 1972. Marilyn started work at United General Hospital September 1972. For the last 13 years, she was an oncology/cancer care nurse. She retired from United General Hospital in 1989 after 18 years to take care of her parents.

Marilyn enjoyed reading, listening to classic country western and gospel music, Wednesday night dinners with her children and grandchildren, getting together with all her family and church family anytime, making memories with grand and great-grandchildren (like picking the tomatoes in the green house); and last but not least she loved the Lord and prayed for her family constantly.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Rex Barrington, of Sedro-Woolley; son, Tim Barrington (Robin) of Aberdeen; 3 daughters, Cathy Francy, Bernice Marty, and Patsy Armstrong (John) all of Sedro-Woolley; 3 brothers and 1 sister; 25 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; 2 great-great -grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Katherine Small; mother-in-law Bernice Humphrey; brother and sister-in-law Walt and Joyce Small; her son, Gerald Barrington and great-great-granddaughter, Aleighia Armstrong.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Skagit Valley Hospice or Grace Crochrum CTP Guild.

A Celebration of Marilyn's life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Northern Peaks Christian Fellowship in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Steve Fish officiating. Private inurnment was held at the Greenhill's Cemetery in Burlington, WA.
