Mary Jane Todd was born on October 22, 1916 in Joplin Missouri. She spent her first 10 years in Garthridge, Missouri where her family owned 80 acres of farmland. In 1926 the family sold their farmland, bought 2 Model A's and Mom, Dad, Mary and her 5 siblings moved west living on a cattle ranch in Susanville, California and finally settling in Oregon where her father's family lived. Mary's father tried his hand at gold mining but suffered a heart attack while mining and did not return. Mary's Mother got homesick and decided to take the family back to Joplin where they lived for about a year. They eventually moved to Miami, Oklahoma where Mary lived until she was 18 years old.
In 1935 Mary decided that it was time to see new places and moved to Los Angeles to be near her dear childhood friend, Leota Berry. Her first week in Los Angeles she met and fell in love with Roger L. Stice and they were married on July 24, 1937. Their first child, a daughter Lillian, was born a year to the day later. Mary and Roger purchased property and a small house in Los Angeles, living there until their second child, Roger was born nine years later. They moved north to Monterey County where they farmed 26 acres of Apricots and eventually purchased acreage on Maher Road in Watsonville.
Mary enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, beachcombing, and spending time with family and friends. Mary loved the beauty of nature, landscapes and wildlife. A beautiful sky with picture clouds filled with birds was one of her favorites.
Mary's husband Roger passed away in 1997 and Mary continued to live in the family home until she moved in 2007 to Hillhaven Assisted living in Watsonville, California.
In October 2009 at the age of 93, Mary moved north to Skagit County, Washington to be near her son Roger and his family. She made her new home at the La Conner Retirement Inn where she enjoyed all of the activities and meeting many new friends. She loved looking at Mount Baker and eagles flying by from her living room window at the Inn.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth (Mary) Algood Todd and Hezicar (Frank) Todd, siblings Albert, Delluah, Harold, Margarite, Lucille, and husband, Roger L. Stice.
