Russell Dean Thurman was born on April 21, 1958 to Russell F. and Bonnie Thurman.

He passed away at Mira Vista Care Center on July 23, 2013 after a six year illness with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
He is survived by his parents, Russell F. and Bonnie Thurman; daughter, Alissa Thurman of Montesano, WA; sister, Julie (Rex) Steversmann, their son Brad, daughters Angie & Mindy; special uncle and aunt Danne & Erleen Anderson.
After graduating from Burlington Edison High School he moved to Grays Harbor and was a log slacker operator at ITT Sorting Yard at the Port of Grays Harbor for 10 years. He moved back to Skagit county and worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. He was forced to retire from Puget Sound Surfaces Inc. of Forks due to MS. He enjoyed his time on Samish Island boating, crabbing and digging clams.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Doris H. (Anderson) Dougherty, John Hull and Alice W. Hull who died on April 24, 2013 at 100 years old; and his aunt Patricia Moena.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mira Vista Care Center and Hospice of Skagit for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Russell.
