James "Andy" Anderson, 72, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 while working on the family farm.
Andy was born on January 23, 1942 to Andrew and Ellen (Marlowe) Anderson in Forks, WA. He was an active student at Sedro-Woolley High, a president of the FFA, a wrestler and a state farmer, graduating in 1960.
He joined the Air Force in 1960, meeting the lovely Linda McLaverty while stationed in England. Lyn and Andy married on September 12, 1964 and began their nearly 50 years of adventure together. With their children Lee and Heidi, they lived in Japan, Italy, Texas and California before returning to the Skagit Valley upon his retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1980. He soon began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service in Mount Vernon, retiring in 2004.
In addition to his beloved wife and children, Andy is also survived by his two grandsons, Sam, age 12 and Manny, age 2; and his siblings Mavis Betz, Larry Anderson and Bob Anderson; and a large, loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Andy had the kindest of hearts and was a friend to all. His sudden absence will weigh on friends and family alike. You are asked to bring your favorite memories to share (or just keep with you in your heart) as we lift each other up and celebrate Andy's life at the American Legion Hall in Sedro-Woolley on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
