Christy Ann Donley, 55, passed away May 24, 2014 at her home in Anacortes, WA after a five-year battle with aggressive breast cancer.

Christy was born August 21, 1958 to Leland and Carol Amundson in Seattle, WA. Growing up in a Boeing family, Christy and her three older siblings lived across several western states.

She enjoyed a mix of country-life and small town living as they moved with dogs, cats, and horses in tow to Great Falls, Montana; Minot, North Dakota; and later Rapid City, South Dakota. After high school and a summer of working in the Black Hills, Christy met her first husband Reed Harrison and father to her two children, Dustin and Alissa Harrison.

As a young mother with a limited budget, Christy was ever resourceful. She went from growing a vegetable garden and making homemade baby food to later putting herself through the computer engineering program at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. She graduated in 1986 and moved to Houston, Texas to work as a programmer for Shell Oil. A few years and promotions later, she moved her family to Anacortes, Washington where she met her second husband, Keith Donley. Christy worked as a computer system analyst at Tesoro up until her medical disability leave.

Of all the places Christy lived, Anacortes was her true home where she shared a special bond with the love of her life and best friend, Keith. She had a deep respect for nature and somehow managed to reconcile her contradictory love for both birds and cats, and gardening and deer. She relished in the hard labor of yardwork and built a backyard haven for hummingbirds and flowers over the last two decades. She never quit and, in fact, was still making plans for "one more flower bed and perhaps a small vegetable garden." She was an avid technologist who volunteered to mentor young women in engineering and considered her Kakuro math puzzles as a good way to relax. She was also a loving grandmother who took great joy in reading stories and playing with the little ones. That motherly love and support for her family overflowed even to her four-legged and furry "kiddie", Tykers.

Christy is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Keith Donley of Anacortes, WA; two children Dustin (Dori) Harrison and Alissa (Goldie) Harrison both of Vancouver, BC; step-daughters Kim Downing, Lori (Doug) Goucher, and Jennifer (Ron) Bean; two grandchildren Finn and Beckley Harrison and eight step-grandchildren; her mother, Carol Amundson of Mount Vernon, WA; brothers David (Sylvia) Amundson of Seattle, WA and Dan Amundson of Portland, OR; brother-in-law Ken (Linda) Donley of Alger, WA.

Christy was preceded in her death by her father Leland Amundson and sister Susan Hayward.

A family graveside service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the for breast cancer.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
