Daniel A. Derting, a resident of Mount Vernon, Washington passed away on June 4, 2014 at the age of 47. He was born in Vancouver, WA to Wayne and Emma Derting.

The family moved to Anacortes in 1976 and Dan graduated from Anacortes High School in 1986. Following graduation, Daniel enlisted in the Unites Stated Navy. On September 5, 1995 he married Denise Williams. Daniel was employed at Job Corps in Sedro-Woolley since 1996.
In his free time he enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, wood working and hunting with his brother. He had a great sense of humor that will be deeply missed.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Derting in 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; his mother, Emma; sons and daughter-in-law, James Rivera and Chris and Sarah Rivera; grandchildren, Sarah Rivera and James Rivera; brother and sister-in-law, David and Colleen Derting; and sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy and Mel Larsen and Cindy Derting.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Oak Harbor, WA with Pastor Tim Gebhardt officiating. A private family interment, with military honors, will be held at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.
