Rosemary Nelson, age 75, of Mount Vernon, Washington, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at her home in Mount Vernon surrounded by her loving family and close friend, Carla Wood.

She was born to Samuel R. and Gertrude B. (Wilhelm) Scott on November 13, 1938 in Boise, Idaho.

Rosemary spent her younger years growing up in the Jordan Valley, Bend and later Newberg, Oregon where she met and later married her first husband, Marvin Taylor. They had one son, Dennis, but Marvin was tragically killed in a hunting accident that same September. Rosemary later met and married Chester Nelson and had her second son, Robert. After they divorced her journey brought her to Seattle, Washington where she met and married Norm Young. The couple then relocated to the Anacortes area where they purchased and ran Steinman's Grocery on 12th street for many years. During this time she bred and showed Scotties and loved being active in the community. After Norm passed away Rosemary was appointed to take the position he held on the Anacortes City Council in the early 1990's. She eventually sold the grocery store and started working in the home healthcare business.

In 1995 Rosemary met and married Roger Nelson, the love of her life. The two enjoyed spending time in their RV in the Fort Casey area digging clams and watching the sunsets. They shared a love for flowers, especially roses, their two dogs and a special love for each other.

Rosemary developed kidney failure and for the past 12 years has been cared for by her devoted husband, Roger, who provided dialysis at home which allowed her to spend these past years surrounded by everything that brought her comfort.

She was well known for her cooking and lots of it. Having friends and family over for gatherings also brought her much joy.

Rosemary loved traveling, the arts, lively discussions, reading, and her two four legged companions Tilly and Petunia, who will both deeply miss her.

She will be greatly missed as a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, friend and wife.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Gertrude Scott; her first husband, Marvin Taylor and third husband, Norm Young.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Nelson; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Pamela Taylor of Anacortes; son, Robert Nelson of Mount Vernon; Grandson, Tye Taylor of Burlington; brother, Samuel R. Scott Jr. of Tigard, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews.
