David N. Denton age 83, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at his home on Pleasant Ridge following and extended illness.

David was born on January 18, 1927, the sixth of ten children of Oscar and Maimie Valentine Denton. He spent most of his life on the family homestead on Pleasant Ridge. He attended La Conner schools and served in the United States Army during World War II. On November 20, 1953 he married E. Lorraine Mowery and together they raised three children, Dorina, Lorene and David II.

David loved fishing, bowling and spending every Wednesday evening with his Pleasant Ridge friends and neighbors. He worked for the Washington State Transportation Department for 32 years retiring in 1989. He was also past president of Rexville Grange and Cemetery Commissioner for Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter Dorina "Dee" Denton of Sedro-Woolley, son David Denton II and his wife Debbie, son-in-law Dennis "Mick" Medcalf; brother John Denton, sister Lois Denton; grandson Mike Medcalf and wife Amanda all of Mount Vernon; brother Bruce Denton and his wife Darlene of Anacortes; granddaughter Shae Lyons and husband Jimmy of Burlington, grandson Ryan Denton of San Francisco, CA, granddaughter Jenny Mouw and husband Matt of Mesa, Arizona and two great granddaughters.
David was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, daughter Lorene "Rene" Medcalf, grandson Richard "Richie" Denton and siblings, Dan, Paul, Anne Denton, Naomi "DeeDee" Denton Prante, Mary Denton Prante, and Virginia "Ginny" Denton Barr.

The family would like to thank neighbor Mary Stroebel along with Ann and Birdy of Skagit Valley Hospice for their help during the past 7 months.
