Susan "Penny" Fletcher, 68, of Willcox, Arizona passed away on Feb. 6, 2103 in Tucson, Arizona with her family by her side.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born at home on Lopez Island, Washington, on March 31, 1944 to Clifford and Doris Anderson. She attended Lopez School through her junior year, then transferred to Mt. Vernon High School, where she graduated with the class of 1962. During her youth, she was a member of the Lopez 4-H club and enjoyed raising animals and sewing and baking. Growing up on a farm taught her hard work, and she practiced a strong work ethic all her life.
In 1968 she married Gary Fletcher at Paine Air Force Base, where he was stationed. Gary's assignments took the family to many places including Homestead, Fla., and to Germany, where they lived for 6 years. After Gary's retirement from the Air Force, the family moved to Willcox where her parents lived. She was a devoted mother and wife to her family, and resumed working when her girls were grown. At the time of her passing, she was in her 26th year of working in the office at Maid Rite Feeds, a large farm supply store in Willcox. On a few occasions she would encounter someone from the Skagit Valley in the store, and she just loved talking with them! Some stopped to say hello more than once, and that gave her great joy.
Penny loved the Lord and cherished her friends from church as well as the many people she saw everyday. She seemed to know everyone in town, and had a big smile for anyone who crossed her path. She loved animals and always had a dog or cat laying claim to her lap and affections.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Christina and an infant brother.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; daughters, Karen Geyer (Bill) of Millington, Tennessee, and Tracey Rhoades (Chris) of Willcox, Az., and their families. She thoroughly enjoyed her seven grandchildren and recently became a great-grandmother. Also surviving are sisters, Caroline Lee (Pat) of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., Jinni Feming (Jerry) of Concrete, Wash., and her brother, Clifford Anderson, also of Concrete. She is also survived by half-sisters, Carol Joy (Raul) of Hereford, Az., Minerva Rosas, Sierra Vista, Az., and Andrea Anderson, Willcox, Az., and their families. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special aunt and uncle, Pat and Fred Anderson, of Coos Bay, Oregon. She loved them all.
A memorial service was held on Feb. 12th, 2013 at Grace Chapel in Willcox, Arizona and she was inurned at the Willcox Cemetery.
