We celebrate the life of Hazel Halgren, a lifetime resident of Anacortes, Washington who passed on February 23, 2013. She was born in Coupeville, WA on November 16, 1917 to Dyle and Lora Ives.

On April 23, 1938, Hazel married Melvin Halgren, and together they both shared a passion for boating, golf, bridge and were active members of the Anacortes Elks Club.
Hazel was an amazing individual; she was a quilter, seamstress, did beautiful needlepoint pictures and was an avid reader. Hazel still lived in her own home, continued to drive and played bridge several times a week.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Halgren, her parents, Dyle and Lora Ives and her brother, Bill Ives.
Hazel is survived by her daughter Linda (Orlie) Dunn-Rud, son Larry (Sandi) Halgren, grandchildren, Kristy (Skyler) Kelm, Carolyn Wick and great grandchildren, Sierra and Mackenzie Kelm, Madison Wick and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Croatian Cultural Center, 801 5th Street, Anacortes, WA.
The family has requested that memorial gifts be made in Hazel's memory to Seattle Children's Hospital or Whatcom Hospice House in Bellingham.
Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
