Melvin Erhart Heyntsen of Burlington, passed away at the age of 88 in his home on July 6, 2013.

He was born to Peter and Anna Heyntsen in Humboldt, Iowa on February 15, 1925.
He grew up on Whidbey Island, and served in the Navy in World War II. He married Borgny Lucille Ytgard on March 28, 1947 at Burlington Lutheran Church. He was the father of four children, and worked in construction and other trades while helping to run the family farm.
Melvin will always be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his family, and for his charitable heart.
Melvin is survived by his children, Arlene (Jim) Obtinario of Sequim, Ardelle (Rich) Gronquist of Marysville, Alan (Terri) Heyntsen of Sedro-Woolley, and Brian (Kari) Heyntsen of Sandy, Oregon; brother, Einar (Doris) Heyntsen of Burlington; brother-in-law, Reidar (Millie) Ytgard of Samish Island; 13 grandchildren,; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 nieces; and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Borgny Lucille; parents; brother; and a grandson.
Graveside inurnment with military honors will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Burlington Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Burlington Lutheran Church fellowship hall from noon to 3:00 PM.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.
