1928 – 2012
Tom Emerson passed away August 29, 2012. He was born in Rockford, IL, on November 3, 1928, and spent the first nine years of his life in Oregon, IL. He spent the next thirteen years in Indianapolis, IN, and attended college at University of Michigan where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He went to Ann Arbor once a year with friends for a football weekend until last year.
He was married in 1951 to Marion B. Wheeler of Madison, WI. After serving in the U.S. Army in Korea he lived in Milwaukee, WI, for three years. After that he moved to Northbrook, IL, where he lived nine years and then he was transferred east and lived for twenty-two years in Wilton, CT. He worked in sales and management for Union Carbide Corp. in the Eveready Battery Division.
In 1987, he and his wife moved to Rancho Bernardo. He enjoyed golf, following Cubs baseball and he and his wife loved to travel. They were members of Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church where he was an usher.
Mr. Emerson is survived by his wife, Marion; four children, Thomas F. Emerson Jr., Richard S. Emerson, Katherine Rippel and Nancy Russell; and seven grandchildren.
