1940 – 2012
Linda Mitchell, 72, of Monroe, UT, formerly of Ramona, passed away December 1, 2012, in St. George, due to complications after heart surgery. She slipped peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born July 14, 1940, in San Diego, CA, to Melvin Mansen and Ruth Helen "Muffy" Marshall Hill. Linda was the third of five children. She was raised in Ramona, CA, and graduated from El Capitan High School in 1958. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Lee Mitchell. They eloped to Las Vegas on April, 28, 1961, and spent the next 52 years together. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They began their life together in Ramona, CA, where they became the proud parents of four children. In 1977 they relocated their family to Monroe, their little piece of heaven.
Linda loved spending time in the outdoors where she enjoyed long jeep rides, gardening, and a good yard sale. She was an accomplished artist, seamstress, and had a great love and appreciation for music. For over fifty years she had a front row seat while her husband entertained with his guitar. She was his biggest fan.
She gained many friends during her years of service at Monroe Drug, First Security Bank, and then the Monroe Market.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and adored spending time with her grandkids.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Laurie (Jim) Terry of Washington, UT, Sherry (Bart) Hammond of Centerfield, UT, Jerry Lee (Donna) Mitchell of Washington, UT, and Donald Mitchell of Monroe, UT; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Harriet (Larry) Byron, Penny (David) Woodard, and Debra (Thomas) Cravo, and sister-in-law, Carol Hill, all of California; and her beloved dogs, Chipper and Charlie. She is preceded in death by her parents, and only brother, Melvin Marshall Hill.
